Why Suffering?

So if we are allowed to go through non-enjoyable periods of life even with faith then there is of course the question “Why?”

The answer - Romans 5:1-5 (NIV via BlueLetterBible.org)
1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Yes, suffering can be good for us. We can be brought closer to God via our suffering. If we are closer to God then we are more like God. Read those verses again, especially verses 3 and 4. Even if you do not believe in our Creator you can see the value of suffering. Still, this is hard to remember while actually going through suffering. Perhaps then that is why I am writing this blog. If you are going through suffering now then know that as you go through it you are being made a stronger person.
